Neil has more than 30 years of energy industry experience across the electricity and gas sectors, including roles in retail, distribution and asset management.
He is the Director of the Centre for Energy Data Innovation at the University of Queensland, a collaborative initiative between the university, Energy Queensland, Redback Technologies, Springfield and Microsoft. The centre is collecting and analysing real-time power data from IoT sensors on the low-voltage network to uncover new insights and opportunities for network operators. The centre’s multi-disciplinary team of researchers includes electrical engineers, data scientists and interaction designers.
Prior to joining the University of Queensland, Neil was the CEO at CitySmart, a sustainability agency dedicated to helping governments and corporations deliver upon their sustainability goals, including energy strategy.
