Nigel Watson (UK)
Nigel has worked in business and IT roles across a range of competitive industries for more than 30 years. His work experience includes leadership of transformation programmes for leading organisations including GE Capital, Microsoft, Travelport and Vodafone, often across the globe.
He has been with Northumbrian Water Group since 2015, joining as Transformation Programme Director. In this role he led the market opening programmes for both retail and wholesale. In October 2016, Nigel took up the role of Chief Information Officer. Since that time, he has led the successful delivery of Northumbrian Water’s Customer Transformation Programme (ONCE), which underpins the utility’s Unrivalled Customer Experience Strategy.
He is now leading Northumbrian Water’s Intelligent Asset Management programme, with an overall ambition of making it the most digital water company in the world. Nigel is also responsible for the innovation strategy and execution across the Group and, in this guise, helped to create the utility’s Innovation Festival, which has attracted participants from over 500 organisations and generated hundreds of ideas to improve the business. Nigel is co-chair of Northumbrian Water’s Retail Joint Venture, Wave, and a member of the CBI’s Innovation Council.
Northumbrian Water Limited supplies 2.7 million customer in the UK’s North East with both water and sewerage services, trading as Northumbrian Water, and 1.8 million customers in the UK’s South East with water services, trading as Essex & Suffolk Water.
